"To see the unseen
- be present"
~ Selena Rollason Photographer
Fine Art & Illustrative work
Some images begin as photographs
. . . and end as stories.
Through layering, imagination and illustration, I use photographic moments to create something more expressive — visual narratives made up of a multitude of photos (sometimes a couple, sometimes a lot) where the interplay of subject, light, atmosphere and emotion take precedence over realism.
My Fine Art & Illustrative work are composite illustrations that exist in the space between what is seen and what is imagined, inviting the viewer to dream, to stop and look and to step inside a story rather than simply observe the world as we know it.
About Me
I’m Selena, a Queensland-based photographer drawn to light, texture and the quiet moments in between. With over 35 years behind the camera and a background in professional photography and design, my work is grounded in observation, storytelling and authenticity.
Best known for my photojournalism work, I’ve spent years photographing real life as it unfolds — from families and weddings to deeply intimate moments. That way of seeing continues to shape my work today.
Now photographing purely for the love of it, I’m most at home capturing birds, wildlife, nature, travel and time with my family. I’m drawn to images that feel natural and timeless — small details, fleeting moments and a sense of place. Photography, for me, is about honest stories and seeing beauty a little differently.
And I love sharing how I see the world with others.
